June 28-30: The "Pearl" & Juneau

On Sunday, June 28th we arrived in Seattle to board the Norwegian "Pearl" for our 7 night cruise through Alaska's Inside Passage. The Travco was left in Bellevue for some repairs while we were away. We were very excited to see the B'Nalley's and they were already on board with the champagne chilling! The ship is enormous and we were very impressed by it. We scored an ADA room, so our cabin was huge by cruise ship standards. The only hassle was having to stand in the "booze violators" line TWICE. We got caught with wine in two different bags. NCL is known for their "freestyle" cruising, which suited us perfectly, being able to eat where and when we wanted. We made the mistake of choosing the sushi restaurant the first night, but after that our dinners were much better in the various restaurants. Jake immediately got into going to the "Kids Club". The first evening and full day were spent cruising up to Juneau. We took advantage of some of the on-board entertainment...see photo of Jake with the showgirls. We arrived into Juneau on Tuesday, the 30th. It was quite amazing seeing the huge cruise ships docked in these small towns. We headed out to the Mendenhall Glacier, the main site in the area, aside from a view of Sarah Palin's (now former) residence. It was an amazing site to see..the blue colors of the glacier, the glacial waters, no photo I can take will do any justice at all!

On board in Seattle...perfect weather!
Arriving in Juneau....cloudy and cold!

The Spinnaker Lounge...great spot for whale watching (and Bingo and cheesy entertainment)

The whole gang at Mendenhall Glacier

One of several self portraits... a tradition for Kelly and me

Between Kids Club, 24/7 ice cream, and shows....cruising for Jake is lots of fun!
